I needed a tanning salon for my wedding. I’ve grown up in this neighborhood and decided to try this salon due to celebrity tanning not being in the area anymore. I went in KNOWING I only wanted 1 month of tanning. The girl that sold me the membership had zero information she could provide me and I specifically said I only needed one month of tanning. When I went to cancel my membership, I was told by the same person that sold me my membership that she isn’t sure why the bill cycle is adding an additional month. I asked to speak with the manager, Gail, and she happened to come in on shift while I was there tanning. Gail informed me that they require 30 days notice to cancel a membership. I advised her that I was not aware of any basics to this membership because they have employees selling memberships and providing ZERO information and how am I supposed to know when I’m the customer, not the one who works there. Then she said “it’s in the fine print when signing up for your membership” I understand that, however, I was trusting the people they have selling memberships for their company to provide the basics of a membership because I clearly missed it. Gail said “well you only signed up for a month” I explained to her that I came in telling her employee I only needed to tan for one month due to my wedding and being out of the country half of April (so it would make no sense for me to need more than 1 month). Therefore, I wouldn’t be able to us the remaining of the membership anyways and had I know that I needed to give 30 day notice, I would have canceled when I started the membership. Gail proceeded to tell me “well we have a 1 month membership” blaming the customer.. I reminded her, I came into the salon saying I only needed 1 month of membership and her employee failed to be able to provide any information on the memberships or connect the customer with the appropriate membership and that it’s not my job to decipher they’re package menu. When I was asking questions about the membership, I was getting blank stares. I was told “oh, well she is new” which I also understand we all have to learn, however, Gail could have taken some accountability being the manager and accommodated in some sort of way. She continued to place blame on the customer and saying “I’m sorry, there isn’t anything I can do” No, there isn’t anything she is WILLING to do. Not even take accountability for poor customer service. Anyways, shop around. The only reason I gave 1 star is because the ambiance is stylish and there is 1 girl that works there that always greets you. The other employees, which I believe are the owners, are not friendly or welcoming.
